Just another day roasting coffee!
My name is John Stevens, and welcome to Pastor John's Blessed Beans. I thought I would take some time and answer some questions that might be floating around out there:
Are you really a pastor?
I am! I have been an ordained pastor in the ELCA (Lutheran) for more than 20 years, and I absolutely love what I do!
What is your favorite part of being a pastor?
Having a cup of coffee with someone and calling it work! That might sound silly but I really mean it. It is powerful to sit across from another human being and connect with them over a cup of coffee. It strips away the screen we communicate through, whether that be through texting or social media.
How did you get started roasting coffee?
Christmas 2017 I was given two bags of green coffee, and a booklet about how to roast it. I started with an air popcorn maker, moved to a Behmor 1600plus, then to a Behmor 2000ab, only to add a second Behmor to the mix. Lately, I have been roasting at a local CoOp roasting factory, and I love it.
Who came up with that wonderful slogan, "Turning Water Into Coffee!"?
My lovely and creative wife, Sharon Dawson.
A friend of mine wrote this beautiful post on her blog, which I think does a great job highlight my coffee, and myself. Take a look:
